The Texas Hospital Association (THA) bestowed its prestigious Texas Hospital Advocacy Tribute Award on Donna this weekend, saying that she “put her nursing degree to outstanding use” during her first term in office and “made a highly positive impact on the health care system in Texas.”
Donna, a former critical care nurse at Brackenridge and Seton, was honored by THA for creating the Nursing Education Partnership Program and filing bills to address the state’s nursing shortage, prevent retaliation against nurses who report unsafe patient care, and improve Texas’ immunization registry.
“If Rep. Howard was able to accomplish this much good work for Texans in her first session, THA looks forward to working with her for many sessions to come,” said Dr. Dan Stultz, THA’s president and CEO.
So do we!
DONNA IS RUNNING FOR ANOTHER TWO YEARS OF POSITIVE CHANGE!
Donna announced that she is running for re-election next year and asked voters to “take the next step” with her.
“We have glimpsed what’s possible if we put partnership ahead of partisanship in the State Capitol,” she said. “Now it’s time to take the next step toward common ground.”
Donna won a landslide victory in the special House District 48 election last year, represented the district during the 2006 special legislative session on public school finance, and earned praise in this year’s regular legislative session for her leadership on clean air, health care, and property tax appraisal reform.
IT’S FUNDRAISING TIME AGAIN!
