DONNA JOINS TEXAS 20/20

We are proud to announce that Donna is the newest member of Texas 20/20; a group of 10 House members who represent battleground districts like HD 48 that lean conservative. Texas 20/20 exemplifies Donna’s commitment to finding common sense solutions that put sound public policy before partisan politics, so we can continue to improve our schools and strengthen our economy.

To prepare for the budgetary challenges lawmakers will face in January, the group has hired former chief revenue estimator and fiscal policy guru Billy Hamilton. With Billy’s help, the 20/20 members are getting educated on how other states have balanced their budgets and exploring every option available in Texas. That way, they can head into the session with a “radically reasonable” approach to dealing with the deficit.

DONNA DISCUSSES THE LCRA

Did you know that during a four-year term, the Governor will make about 3,000 appointments? That means Rick Perry has selected a staggering number of individuals to serve on any number of commissions and committees including the board of directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). All 15 of the current directors were appointed by Perry, so it’s no surprise that he objected to HB 4756 that Donna filed last session.

HB 4756 would have given the 10 counties within the LCRA service area more control over the process by allowing their county commissioners to select a director from their own county leaving the Governor to fill the remaining five seats. The bill also would have mandated that the LCRA undergo the Sunset review process like other state agencies. Watch here to learn more about Donna’s proposal to increase accountability at the LCRA.
